First batch of pups

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Others look fine but then again so did that one. They do look plumper

Guess I'll add 6 or 7 lbs tonight with the pond's WC.

Course it HAD to be one of the nicer ones.

How long before uneaten food affects water quality?

Just tested water.... Ammo-0 Nitrite-0

The reason I asked about food is cause I have been feeding very late at night and removing leftovers in the morning. Guessing 6-7 hours tops.

How about lack of flow through the tank? How about the fact the water was being pulled straight out of the pond rather than from the filter?

Is it possible that the feedings and waterchanges that the pond goes through is causing too big of spikes and is being too hard on the pups? The pond does have 10 rays in it..And they aren't small... Heavy bio load I know, which is why I haven't missed a single waterchange since the addition of the 2 rays from the growout tank and the 2 new females. Probobly 40% minimum every day.... Is it maybe time to isolate the pups? Steal some bio and pull them off the pond's system?

Just don't wanna have this happen again if it's within my control.

Thoughts????

Sorry to hear about your loss.
A mature system will cope with a little uneaten food, check the N03 (Nitrate) and Ph levels.

Sorry to hear one of the pups died. I would remove them to a system of their own. You may be right on the feeding/water changed schedule is too much for them. Does the pup tank have its own filter as well? Or just flow through from the pond?

I wouldn't leave any food in with them over night either. I would feed them small amounts a few times a day, making sure everything was eaten.

Don't think it was the guppys either, especially where you've had them for awhile.
You are doing a great job! You should change your user name to Marble Master:)

The pup tank does NOT have it's own filter. I did add a line/pump coming directly out of the pond filter along with the other line that was feeding from the pond.

I think I'll end up moving them. The tank location is crap anyways. Can't really see what's going on real well in there.

Marble master :screwy: :ROFL:No way man, considering my track record I really don't think that would apply to me.

Very nice. I noticed the mantilla in the pic with Dad. Any hybrids?

Hopefully soon. She does have a bit of bite marks on her, but she has before and nothing happened.

May have to seperate her and a male, as I don't think she is very attractive to the males given all the female Marbles they are in with.

Hoping for Jag/Marbles in the future too....
