Your Armatus has "the sickness" now. Good luck in future endevors. I been preaching for how many months now..... GET HIM OFF LIVE.

There is no excuse for this. I KNOW for a fact they are puddy cats when off live. I have a friggin SILVERY 5-6 inch Pink Tailed Chelceus that lived with my first Armatus up to a foot and is with my 3 now and has NEVER came up with a missing scale. Tail tettered a couple times but that's it.

You need to remove his dominance. Go get something, ANYTHING that is bigger than the Armatus and that can take a beating. You can't allow him to run the tank if you ever want to have fish with him again. I'de advise some Gar. Gonna take some BIG teeth to get through that hyde.

Silver dollars for Dithers.......

i would take DB's advice otherwise you'll end up like me w an armatus all by himself....

x2...

you knew the day would come west.:grinno:
thats why armatus are MONSTER :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2
get some equal sized or bigger tankmates.
and GET HIM OFF LIVE.
some gars,more geos,bichirs,rays,cichla,pike cichlids etc.
even if that geo manages to survive,im pretty sure the armatus will take it out again since its already been marked.
you shouldve kept that gold wolf in there with him.
from what ive seen, armatus do well with tankmates when the tank is heavily stocked and tend to kill things when theres fewer fish together.
oh,and did i mention,GET HIM OFF LIVE FOODS.:D

Well after tons of research, I decided to try to take him off live food. Dont know why but i am going to try;)........

I know, I know.... I just love to see the "HUNT". Im torn between taking everyone out and keeping the "HUNT" or stocking more and starving him to Market Shrimp???:screwy::(:WHOA::eek::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

(Ahh, why dont they come with instructions.........)

By the way, he (the geo) was as stiff as a nail when I got home:cry:

I would love to if they were cheaper:ROFL:

You haven't seen the other side of the picture Wes. It's not like the things just eat like normal fish when they are off live...... They still approach thier food the same way...... They are still VERY aggressive at feeding times. Get them on krill and you'll see what I mean. I would get wet everytime I fed mine cause they would break the surface and splash everywhere.

There is absolutly NO reason you can't tie the smelt to a string and enjoy the same "hunt" you do now........

Don't get me wrong... you COULD have him be a solo killer lone tankmate if that's what you want..... But it doesn't HAVE to be that way........

The only downside is you might be too late..... He might still have the killer instinct after being broke just cause it's in his blood. I haven't ever messed with breaking them later in life.... Mine are always broke by 6 inches.

Im going to try silversides and krill. We will see what happends:D

If I cant keep any tankmates, cool (the wifey will be happy about that) and if I can... Cool.
Either way, its a win win situation for me:naughty::headbang2

Why did you sell the GATF, and did you get good money

I got tired of him. he was to boring:screwy:. Except feeding time of course, other than that he just stood in one place (at night he would cruise but it was still boring).
And yes I did get a good amount. I did sell him at a good price (dam good) but I got what I was asking...650.00+ the 2 baby Geos
