I hope yours don't have the green red and blue lines.
Even if stunted, they will still have good colors, and can produce viable young.
Don't worry about adjusting the pH, that will often cause more problems. Angels and discus should not be kept together.>:(;1971451;1971451 said:Yeah, I printed out that picture and took it with me today when I went to get my other discus. I picked out two more that didn't have any signs of stunting. Unfortunately, that leaves me with one that looks like it has some snakeskin in it, and one that's at least part turq. Probably not good combos, but they're pretty. That's all I really care about. I'll get some pictures up eventually.
I'm turning the temp up slowly, and lowering the ph slowly, too. I made up some beefheart (yay for ethnic markets) and all the fish went crazy for it. They didn't let anything go to waste.
Now I have to start thinking about my stock, though. The discus are young, and my angels are still growing. Right now, they're all small enough to be together with the fish I have in my 55. I've read that I can have 5-6 adult discus or angels in that size tank. I know that as they pair off, I may have to thin the herds, and I also plan to get rid of all the fish but the discus and angels. Still, I dunno... All the fish are comfortable, but I don't like the look of the mix.
It is more so behavioral than anything. Discus stunt so easily, and are not agressive eaters when others are present. Angel fish are much more aggressive eaters, and may take too much of the food, which will also cause other problems. This can then lead to disease, as the angels getting more food will be healthier, and can handle diseases much better than the discus.>:(;1972072;1972072 said:Alright, I won't bother with the PH. Good thing I hadn't started to adjust yet.
I've read so many conflicting opinions on whether or not discus and angels should be kept together that I don't even know if I care anymore. Of course I want to provide the best environment for my fish, but it gets a little ridiculous. I don't mean to offend, but I'm sure you can see what I mean. As a discus beginner, I'd like a cut and dry argument for either stance. This seems to be a pretty good argument for keeping them together:

You say not to keep them together, is it because of water parameters or behavior, or just for aesthetic purposes? I've heard of some kind of disease discus get from wild caught angelfish, but mine are no where near wild.
I appreciate your help by the way, and please don't think I'm trying to disregard your advice.
