Seeing a Ropefish at an LFS bought a 10gal and got a Senegal......Well that's obviously VERYBAD, two years later after working around the hobby I've learned, no more 10gal for anything but guppys/quarentine

well it wasn't the first fish i saw, but i got a book about fish and i saw a red tailed shark, immediately fell in love with it and a month later got one for a 5 gallon tank. it died 3 months later and i have gotten a bigger tank with more fish and i love it!

Wasn't my FIRST fish (had tiger barbs as a kid) but when I got into college and had a 5 gallon hex with 4 Opaline Gourami as the inhabitants, only until I could scrape enough money for a 29G setup (which I still have 6 years later) and got 3 angels to go with them. It was this combo that I loved and still love.
I still have 2 angels that I raised from eggs as the 3 I got led to a breeding pair. Don't have the gourami's anymore, but anytime I'm at a LFS and see some I have to stop and watch them for a while!
Now from a 29G I have a 40G breeder, a 75G, and a 90G all set up and running!
It would take something VERY BIG/LIFE CHANGING to make me go back to no tanks!

Parents let me put 2 Jack dempsey in a 20 gallon with there community fish, ended up with a tank with just one jack dempsey. I had him for 5 years. Joined the AF and he died about a yr later at my parents.. My friend gave me a 20 gallon for free. then another friend gave me a 55 gallon for free.. now I'm hooked again. 2 albino oscars 3 firemouths, 2 jack dempseys, peacock eel, and in the 20 ive got a paired up set of convicts with about 150 fry well more around 100 fry now, I decided the convicts would make great feeders!!

I have been into fish for longer than I can remember, maybe it was fishing with my uncle or maybe the fish tank in my pediatricians waiting room. I was about 5 when I set up my first 10 gallon community tank, very simple fake plants and a castle. I went to Woolworth's with my dad, they had fish for sale in their basement. The first fish I knew I had to have was a dojo loach. I also ended up with some swordtails, a betta and some tetras. About 3 months later my fish got ick and all died exept that loach. He lived for a few years longer and I still think he was the hardiest thing I've ever kept.

I never thought much of fish tanks until I rented a room from a friend who kept tanks. It took a while for me to realize that whenever I was in the room with a tank, my eyes would always drift over to them. It didn't take long for me to develop a ritual of zoning out in front of a tank for a while before going to sleep at night.

I have been in the hobby for 8 years now in coming feb. But just three years ago i saw a Polypterus Senegalus that captured my attention, i got it.

I started with a ten gallon tank that my parents got me. I just kept tetras and barbs and such... Then I saw the ropefish and had to get it. Of course it jumped out within a couple weeks, but I was hooked.

Back to basics and first love, goldfish.;)
