First Knife Fish

I'd be somewhat more worried about that Bullhead cat eating everything, given they grow over a foot long.

I've seen a Xenomystus kept with African cichlids...doesn't mean it's a good idea. I was more concerned about it munching the gouramis though, a two pound catfish has big mouth...

Very cool, nice setups. Is there a specific place that in your tank that your African Brown Knife fish hides? I know that other knife fish hide in those little tubes and I don't know if I should get one for mine. Also what is your Knife fishes diet?

I assumed it wasn't full grown, hence the "eventually eat" part lol.

I have a 5 1/2" African Brown Knife. He is special needs though. He came with a fish tank that I bought off of CL and is surely stunted. He had been housed with 3 Red Devils (10", 8", & 7") and a 8" Green Terror for about a year in a 100 gal tank. He now lives in a 125 gal with a Polleni, a Nicaraguanese, a Robertsoni, 2 Sevs, and a Chocolate Pleco. He has his own pvc pipe that he sleeps in. He comes out quite often during the day but is very active at night. He eats earthworm bits from Kensfish.com as well as frozen blood worms (he may eat some of the other stuff I put in for the other fish, but I have seen him eat those).

The African Brown Knife will average 8" and your stock should be fine. They're not very aggressive and the Pearl Gouramis and Bullhead would be too big for it to predate on. A 55g is just about right for the little guy and as for diet...I fed mine frozen bloodworms and it would even come up for flakes after awhile.
