Preparing to venture into the marine world, put this cart together off a site I've heard good things from, the tank is a 20 long in which i plan to start as a fowlr, and eventually keep a few corals. Any comment on the products, prices, or general advice would be much appreciated.

it'll probably work, make sure you read up a ton...there's the pro.

the con---
20 gallons is too small for a first marine tank. I don't recommend anyone start under 30 gallons, and even then i really suggest a 55.
koralias are awesome powerheads, however the magnets and clamps have a tendancy to wear down and can sometimes blow sand and stuff all over your aquarium. so i've personally strayed from them...
i don't believe that HOB skimmers do the same job as an in-sump skimmer...so i've always strayed from them.
Personally the canister filter isn't necessary either...but i'm sure you could run phosban or some other substance in there for benefit

20gal tank wont need a protien skimmer. Regular maintenance and waterchanges will do fine. I didnt even add a protien skimmer to my morays tank until a year after I set it up.

Thanks for the advice, my lfs sells some used tanks fairly cheap, and for the money I'm looking to spend I'm sure a 40-50 dollar tank upgrade won't break me. And as for the power head, do you guys think the canister filter and hang on back refugium can provide enough circulation

Depends on what stock your putting in the tank.

My kids want a "nemo and dory" fish. I wanted to go with two small clowns and an anemone. Then take some time to watch and learn before I start putting in corals. Even if I move up to a 30 or 40 to start I know it's still too small for a hippo tang. I did find a nice used 45 gallon half moon tank at my lfs that I think will make a good starter.

Beginner + anemone + small tank = bad idea

honestly for a 20 gallon long instead of a refuge and canister you can run an AquaC Remora protein skimmer with like a mag 3 pump and thatll be all the filtration you would need.
