Well I figured my 10 gallon will only be good for storing feeder fish so I want to get a decent sized tank to start raising my first monster. Anyone have any idea what size I should get and what I should get for my first. I want to stay freshwater right now and I dont want to jump to a huge tank.

i would say a minimum of 55 gallons for some single specimens, but 75 is more ideal.;) just remember you can NEVER have too much tank space.;) There are some fish that can be o.k in 55's like jacks, FM's, rainbows, red terrors. While others like GT's, Doviis, Jags, and red devils, 75 gallons are probably the very smallest you'd want to house them in. Please note im talking as if the fish are adult size, i myself have a uro, red terror, mang., mota., livistonii, and oscar in a 75, however they are all juvies.

red terrors get bigger then green terrors and red devils so i you would need bigger then a 55 gal , you might be able to squezze a female in there but i would not do it

ok well i would start off native go with a red fin pike and get a 55g small tank to speak of and a moster fish :) very aggresive feeders too :)

90 gallon I don't care much for 75's I like the look of the 90's because of the extra height. and flowerhorn or managuense for fish. Or if your starting out an Oscar is a nice fish to start with. That was my first "monster".

100 gallon for the basses and 200+ for the gar

You're gonna need more than 100 gallons for bass ;). If you don't want to go BIG, don't start with those. If you like bass, go with, as mentioned, ca/sa cichlids. 55 can get you by in a few cases, but 75+ is better.

go with a 100 gallon and get yourself a couple of Jack Dempseys or a couple of oscars both a tough fish that are extremely hardy and are good for begineers
