First "monter fish" tank, need help

I think you should be right, I did not know where to start, but now I can give some more information answer your questions.

1- It can be, but dont have to...
2- No
3- No
4- Yes, but it is not a must.
5- No
6- Yes, thats why i chose Oscar (They are "big", agressive, have personality, arent colorfull and i wanna have 2)
7- I dont know ... maybe xD
8,9,10- I would like to have fish between 13.8 inch and 21.7 inch, +/-

I would like to create a tank with a dark and sinister aspect.
I also add that I like fish with a pre-historic appear.

There are quite a few other Cichlids you could keep in a 180g in a pair of Oscars if you so choose. Take a look here (just for starters, there are many places to shop online but have had good experiences here):

As for the Bichirs, you can find some pretty "pre-historic" looking types (IMO). Look around these two sites:

If you really want to go "pre-historic" and "sinister" looking you might like Wolffish (common species Hoplias Malabaricus). You can find that on the above two links. Please keep in mind though, this is a seriously aggressive predatory fish. As they get bigger (13+ inches) they start to pose a threat even to much larger fish. They max out around 18" usually...might have the potential for larger but I never really see them in home aquaria.

You might also have an interest in the following cats as well:

Just a jumping off point. I suggest you move slow when picking your fish. You will end up responsible for them, and re-homing them can be a real challenge with the bigger and more unusual fish.

gar are really cool and prehistoric looking fish.
 
I don't think bichirs are all that aggressive. All my Bichirs eat live fish but they don't aggressively hunt them down. I have a 8" Delhezi, 10" Endli and a 8" Palmas. I keep them on sinking carnivore pellets as their main staple and for treats I give other foods like chopped silver slides or market shrimp.

I think you'll find more fun in a cat fish. Tiger shovelnose is 1 of my favorite catfish as when they eat they pull back and charge their food kinda like a loaded gun. My .02
