Thanxs everyone,..you think i can successfully keep my
male and add a female "if i can find one" in this 90gal?
Or is it just big enough for him?

Nice pick up. Wait for a few months, and you will have a monster for sure, with exceptional colors. I think in amphilophus genus, Trimacs are one of the most beautiful species.

I currently have a 12" male and a ~10" female in a 125 gallon, and I still feel I should have had a slightly larger tank for them due to all their domestic issues :) I think my pair is somewhat more aggressive towards each other, and you may not quite land up having similar temperament fish, but a 90 gallon would probably be pushing it AFA full grown Trimacs go. A single male, yes, but I think pair would be difficult -- aggression, and water-parameters-wise.

Here's a pic of my pair, and another one of my male:

Awesome looking Trimacs!! Did yours start out w/ yellow or green? Wondering if mine will stay green or turn yellow as adult,..yeah i think the 90 may be too small for a pair too,..i have a 250gal in the basement, but it is tank only,..needs everything else,..i want to set it up in a bad way,..cant spend the $$ right now:(

No, they started more or less like yours :). The male especially developed colors when he got to be the dominant of the pair, as he was quite smaller compared to her initially. I think the "lighter" yellow coloration also has to do with lighter sand substrate I use. Don't worry, it will develop such nice coloration in no time.

I got your PM and will call you after the new year about thr fry, also will get some more pics of the pair, right now their not in breeding colors/stripes and they look beautiful more so the male, colors are stunning on him as is the case with most male Trimacs and he is a few inches bigger then those pics. They grow real fast,I got some grammodes, festes,Haits at the same time as my Trimacs and they grow realllllllll slow.

Sounds good, call when u can,..anxious to see some pics of the other fish ya got,..

NP,I will yank some and take a few pics of others most are in my indoor pond which is like 10 feet by 5 feet wide but with 45 degree angles. So they are harder to get picks without removing from pond.I don't know if you like Africans but a fish with attitude and very owner responsive is the Butti,I had two gave one away and kept the other...just forget about any sort of community tank with them unless tank is huge. They are beligerent and relentless and back down from nothing....My Butti goes after my Bulldog when he walks by tank lol.
