never kept crenicichla but always wanted to. Found a 7" lent at lfs and couldn't resist. Instant classic for me. I enjoy its predatory demeanor, territorial but not overly aggressive so far.

I've never kept a pike before but this species is the one I think looks the most beautiful... my lfs had a pair selling that were completely red.. also beautiful but this guys a stunner! Good luck

Also... what's the personality like
Definitely more aggressive/territorial fish among South American cichlids. Was shy initially but now comes out to beg for food with the rest of the fish. Socializes well with my community so far but I could see the lent doing more damage when its bigger. It's definitely one of the more dominant fish in the tank.
