I've been roaming around the site for a whiile now looking and reading about these fish, my roomate and i got the fish after properly cycling the 10g tank. we got 4 quarter size red bellies now and in the tank are 4 zebra danios (smaller than the red bellies) after one day it seems that the rb's are nipping each others fins more than those of the danios. is this normal? shouldn't they be more aggressive towards the other species more so than themselvs?

u have them in a way 2 small tank even at that age u need a 100gallon 4 them full size atm they should b in a 55 cos they are too crammed

Its normal for small ones to pick at each other fins, but a 10g tank is way to small for four piranhas. You need a much bigger tank for them, they will outgrow the 10g within a couple weeks.

just take them back now before they kill ea other is all i can say if anything you should only have 1 piranah n that will need a 30-40g when its fully grown its best 2 keep them in large groups or on their own

don't worry about the tank size i forgot to mention they will only be in it for about 2 weeks, we have a 55 gallon tank that we are waiting to set up until after Christmas.

no the tank has been lived in by the danios for over a month now. its properly filtered and heated and cleaned regularly.

you should move them to the 55 then

the 55 gallon will be set up after the holidays and for now they are living in the ten gallon.
