2 weeks plus it being cycled?

you said you didnt have to cycle it to unkown malone? if its bone dry all the bacteria you need will be dead. what kind of filter is on your ten? if its been set up for a long time you could put an ac 110 on it to get it ready for your 55. but if its bone dry i would wait until you have a filter big enough for your 55 and put it on your ten for a couple of weeks. welcome to my world :headbang2

heres the current set up to clear all this confusion up.

10g tank
cycled and lived in for a month with 4 danios, filtered and heated properly, bought 4 rb for it yesterday and they are doing fine

55g tank
bone dry waiting to be set up after christmas, already have a whisper double bio wheel filter for it and decor, waiting on filter cartridges and heater (money issue at the moment) this tank will be preped and the fish will be in it after the new year once it is properly set up and cycled.

First of all welcome to MFK.
Next. You will probably be down to one P by the time your 55 is ready to go. Christmas is still over three weeks away and then you have to cycle the tank. Should have waited till the 55 is ready. Could have used the money for the P's to buy heater and cartridges.

yea many you made a mistake but its not a big deal, your new to the hobby so its understandable, my recomendation would be to seperate that 10 gallon for a while until you can properly house the piranhas

We've all made mistakes too! But I agree you should seperate the 10 gallon for now.

Even if you dont have the heater just try to get filter cartridges, dont worry about the carbon just the other part. Get water in the tank and let it start to cycle, then get the heaters, then put the fish in.

Just try to get the cycle started as soon as possible so you can get the fish a bit sooner.

good news is that the piranha are doing fine in the ten gallon, and i've already set up the 55 yesterday, it full of water and i've got the cartridges for the filter, I'm waiting now for the play sand to settle (yes i rinsed it, yes its still cloudy as hell) but i'll be running my filter as soon as i can get the sand to settle and i've already introduced a zebra danio to the tank to help start the cycling.

the piranha seem to be happy their is a current going across the long way of the 10g and they swim in it and i have given them a lot of places to hide in the tank as well, the only thing they've done is eat one of my 4 starter fish but that was expected, now that I'm feeding them shrimp they seem to be happy campers but they will move up to the 55 as soon as it has been cycled.
