"The lights ships with two 10,000k and two actinic bulbs. I asked for the actinic to be replaced with four 10,000k and there was no problem with this request! I should have asked for two 6,700Ks :nilly:Here is the direct link: 4ft Solar T5 Light"

Did you change your mind on that one ? I came across your post and you said that you should've ordered 6700K instead of 10K ... Just curious :P

I run 10k's and have no problems. If you have a 4 light fixture, using softer/redder lights is better for your livestock when you have a lot of light.

i have been running 2 wpg without co2 for a year now with no problems so i really dont think that your light is overkill at all. Switch out the actinic lights for some 6700 or 10000 and start dosing with seachem flourish and flourish excel which is a fert and organic carbon for the plants.

I've got a 2x24W T5HO fixture on my 29. I was dosing excel and dry fertilizer, but stuff wasn't growing very fast. I had a bit of hair algae when I first got the plants but it is gone now. I just hooked up DIY CO2, I made the diffuser out of a small powerhead and one of those gravel vacuum things. It seems to work fine.

yeah i did change my mind. at first i had bought into the hype like you that 10k is no good for plants. im glad i didnt end up going with 6700s. the color is too yellow. heres my tank with 10ks. you tell me, does it look like the plants are doing bad with 10k bulbs??? ;)

looks perfect to me, all I was saying is that "book-wise" plants utilize best light that is in the range of 5-7k, but once again yeah the tank looks fine
