I have always been a fan of eel/snake-like fish and bottom feeders, starting with kuhli loaches and gobies. But now the SA community is transforming into an african oddball and I just came home with a small CB Senegal. He is so cool - very active and curious. Explores everywhere, every level of the tank, comes to say hi. Settled very quickly. Feeding him was like this:
-Hmmm. Let's try some live brine.... Whoa, he just took off with an algae wafer!
-Hmmm. I wonder if he'll eat off of tongs if I put a chunk of silversid.... OK, yes he will!
:)

He'll be the lone poly until we move next year and upgrade tanks. I can see how they are addictive like I've been reading here. I'd love a delhezi, just because I like their black and gray stripy patterning, they are also supposed to be relatively active, and they don't get huge. I'm hesitant to go ornate even though I think they're beautiful because I've read about aggression, and they get probably too large for a tank under 200 gal. Teugelsi is on my list because I think they're gorgeous, but they are hard to find. We shall see.

Here is "Noodles." (The Ctenopoma in the tank is named Checkers. Kind of love having silly names for the predators.)

In this pic I had just put that java fern in the tank not 5 minutes earlier and he had to explore it.

Also, food - I read a lot about tilapia so will get some at the store, but are silversides a poor substitute in the meantime (just because I have them.) I also have carnivore pellets, cichlid pellets, massivore, shrimp pellets, frozen krill and bloodworms, etc.

Congrats on the pickup! Polys are additive beware lol, I would say a Delhezi could be added with no problem not sure about Teugelsi but Ornate they get large and can be snappy at times have a female who is about 17 inches her girth is 3 inches lol. Also before adding consider the size of the aquarium the height is not that important but width is.

silversides are honestly a better substitute that just tilapia being they are a whole fish vs. just the flesh. Pellets are your best bet though, and being a CB sen it will most likely already take to carni pellets easily. You can try breaking up the massivore too, but as it is the pellet is way too large for a Senegal. Avoid bloodworms, no nutrition-think of them like candy for the fish, a good treat once in a while.

Nice pickup, sen are the most active and not aggresive polys, the good thing about sen are they can bea community fish, they dont grow much and you can put any fish that are 5" big with them. Delhezi will be great addition too. Ornate will be fine in 180g to 200g, but if you wanna go small i wont recommend ornate, there's a smaller kind that looks like ornate if you want its called palmas palmas, palmas polli and beuttikoferi, those three almost resemble ornate and teugelsi but grows smaller.

Spell check meant to say addictive lol.
addictive and additive. Where did these 7 polys come from?

Didn't know that about bloodworms had no nutritional value. I've heard brine shrimp are also the same. Is that true?
