Got this guy this past summer out of local pond fishing for pumpkin seeds (went back to said pond a week or two later and for some reason they had poisoned it Im guessing they wanted to restock and get rid of the many pumpkin seeds) but I ended up catching a baby bass on a fly. He was about 2 inches long when first caught been growing very quickly hes about 6 or 7 inches now. At first I had him in a 30 gallon and only fed him rosies but soon moved him to a 65 he gets rosies when I can get them but ive trained him to eat cichlid floating pellets for a while now. I keep him in the tank alone and was wondering if a redfin pickerel would make a good tank mate? or a Bullhead? at least until the bass gets to large and I have to move it to a bigger tank. Also I saw redfin pickerel for sale before online but there doesn't seem to be any in stock anywhere this time of year does anyone know of a good breeder / seller online that can ship to ny? or if theres any lakes or streams they could be acquired in Ny?

A solo LMB would be your best option. Tankmates will most likely get killed or beaten.

When I had a lmb it was very calm during the day but when the lights went off it went into kill mode

As others have said LMB tend to be fairly aggressive towards tankmates, I've found that my gibbi pleco has worked well thus far. Gibbis tend to be somewhat aggressive for plecos so they won't really have a problem being pushed around. That said they aren't native so I'm not sure how well that would suit your criteria.

I'd also recommend not feeding rosie reds, personally I stick with nls pellets and tilapia fillets, they both tend to be much healthier and ultimately easier to keep a good supply.

When I kept lmb I always had many large cave systems and driftwood. The LMB were bullies but aggression was limited to the LMB's territory, but that was created by the abundance of wood and cobblestone. The successful tankmates included SMB, large chub, crayfish and assorted sunfish species. I kept a chain pickerel with success but its a challege. They are shy, skittish and easily outcompeted for food, but if you work at it and baby it you could make it work. Some bass are just aggressive though...
