I have just got my tanks set back up in my new house having recently moved.
I had always kept tropical community tanks in the past but having bought a new one i decided on african cichlids, Malawi.
The tanks set and the first lot went in approx 2 months ago and are thriving. One problem so far has been one blue stripped malawi that has the better of the other.
I was sold this as Socolofi blue and at first they looked the same.
One has become a lot lighter than the other and when on the attack goes very light blue. the other remains much darker blue and doesnt stand a chance.
Could you confirm this is what i was sold, it does not bother any of the other fish

Looks like an L. Trewavasae, does the other fish have the same snout?

Same shaped head, goes near black when getting chased is now bigger that the one above so must just be a wuss,. would moving the landscape maybe solve this?

What other fish do you have in the tank, if they're both male one will be a dominant one and will beat up on the other without a sufficient number of females present. Same if there's only one female.

other fish are 6 baby haps, 4 yellow labs, 6 clown loaches, 2 pictus cats, 1 spotted dora.
Thinking of added more to spread aggression, would that work?

If they are females, at least 3 to a male, then possibly.

I agree I would either get rid of 1 or buy them some females if you can. Make sure there is sufficient hiding spots but really either get rid of 1 or buy females. =] good luck and welcome to mfk.
