i will be setting up a reef tank and would like you input on what i should
have in it. i am interested in the smaller fish and inverts and want some of
them to be fairly well camouflaged sort of a wheres waldo idea. the filtration will most likely be live rock a protein skimmer and possibly a canister filter.
i have come up with a list of fish and inverts i like Six Line Wrasse, Fridman's Dotty back,Purple Dotty back,Clown Goby,Scooter Blenny,
Mandarin fish,Fire fish,Black Percula Clown, False Percula Clownfish,Chalk Bass, Royal Gramma, Lemon peel Angelfish, Flame Angelfish,Neon Goby,
Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp, Feather Duster, Brittle Star ,Decorator Crab,
Porcelain Anemone Crab, Dwarf Hermit Crab, Christmas Tree Worm,
Brazilian hairy blenny, rippled rock skipper blenny,Leather Coral, Button Polyp, Colony Polyp, Birds nest Coral, Trumpet Coral.

i know i cant have all of these so i am asking for your help in choosing please mix and match or make a alternative suggestion thanks.

the lemonpeel would be a no-go with a reef tank, the flame is a maybe

well what size tank are you thinking you can afford?? thats really going to be the deciding factor for most of these fish. if you run LR with a skimmer, and canister, be sure to keep that canister clean. as time rolls on, you can start to see a slow increase in nitrates and sometimes phosphates, which could cause algae issues. Get us a bit more info, size of tank, type of skimmer, etc... and we'll be able to better assist with stocking ideas.

I would steer clear of the purple dotty-back they are EXTREMELY aggressive the Fridmani is more chill and will be find mixing of two species of clown's may not be a good idea unless it's a 55 gallon or bigger. If you wanna do a coral tank no matter what people tell you steer clear of Angel's of any kind , I would also watch with hermit crab's they are opportunistic feeder's and will stress your corals and christmas tree worm's and feather duster's. Everything else will be fine. Another great way to reference safe inverts, fish, and corals besides asking on here is go to liveaquaria.com, or bluezooaquatics.com they have some great article's on reef safe fish etc... and, is a great reference for new reef keeper's. I would be more then happy to help and guide you feel free to Private message me anytime and I will guide you and refer you to my friend's such as Anthony Calfo, Eric Borneman, and other friend's that are well known in the hobby.

i have a 29gal tank that i was thing ou using or a 30 gal i have a BIO-Wheel 350 filter that i am going to usw and a bio-cube size 14 & 29 protein skimer that i can use or since it is new in the box i may sell ti and buy one that would be better.

i'd have to think it's a metaphor for how much this is going to cost...

a 30 gallon isn't all that much though...

unless you go crazy ape**** high-tech with it

i have no plans to go hi-tech. the 30gal tank i got for cheep one of my snakes and ended up not using it and the 29 i got for about $25 with 3 almost new filters. i got the skimmerand filter along with a bag of crushed coral a 250w heater and some water testing stuf from a guy i know that has a lot of stuf from working at petstores most of his life for the cost of the skimmer and he also has the lights hoods and most every thing else i will need so i will be coming out of this fairy cheep. i just need to decide what to put in it.
