will bichirs eat live crayfish?

They might once they get big enough?? I have 2 albino senegal bichirs and 1 regular senegal bichir. They eat bloodworms, earthworms and sinking pellets. I DO know that the puffers will eat them. They are the favorite food of my Ceylon puffer. My Fahaka likes them also, but prefers large night crawlers.

I think the puffer idea is the best one:)

Yes....Bichirs eat crayfish..........Look up Delhezi, Ornate, and Senegal.....The Senegal bichir reaches 15 inches.......The Dehezi can reach 18 inches........Ornates have been recorded to live really long in captivity, one recorded to reach 25 years...........

We decided on 2 senegal bichirs, picked up 2 baby ones yesterday. They are maby 2-3inch long currently. Anyone got some suggestions on what other tank mates might be available? remembering the tank is 130g

and fish that stays at the top. how about a school of silver dollers or other larger barbs, danios. or tetras. I like the giant danios. the color seems to pop more with a little black water. and since you have driftwood that will look nice.

Silver dollar school would look cool.

So you have a 130......I like the idea of puffers......Mbu puffer will fill out the 130 perfectly.......Mbu's grow to a length of 2ft...They are very owner responsive.......Knife fish get really long....For example, the Aba Aba can reach 5-6 feet in length and weigh up to 40 pounds.....Black ghost knifefish get to reach 25-30 inches long.........Why not try purchasing a showcase tankbuster such as a Red Devil, Dovii, or even an Oscar.....A 130 will safely hold two oscars.........

Mbu Puffers require a HUGE tank more like 350 gallon and usually a lot bigger, Dovii also require a tank lager than 200 gallons as they too get very large. If it is puffer you want, the for-mentioned Fahaka will do fine.

Fish that range from the middle to top dwellers will do fine with the Senegal
s, as long as they will not fit in their mouths that is. :naughty:

A silverdollar school will look cool :) I have three plain silverdollars they look cool. I added a redhook and they are even cooler.
