Purchased my first two male Motoro stingray from Florencebigfish and they are awesome!!!!! Dan has some good baby rays and a good person to work with:headbang2. Fishdog said once I got one I would be hooked, well I am. They are eating redworm, ghost shrimp and earthworms after the first day. And even a couple of live fish. If I can get a new camera cord I may throw some pics up soon. Are earthworms from the back yard ok to feed them? I look forward to watching them grow and will be looking for some females in the near future.

earthworms from your backyard CAN be okay. But when people use fertilizers and such go into the dirt in your area, you don't want that in your tank. I get worms from the bait store. I know where they come from and I never had a problem with them.

As for the worms in your yard, if your not sure, then don't. I would not risk it.

point taken. I just found a couple while moving some natural wood in the back yard. They ate them. Now Im going to be nervous for a couple day. They are eating every thing in site. Thanks for the good tip.

you should be fine. Don't sweat it. I would just form now on buy worms from a bait store. I am not the ones at the bait store go threw a vet check or anything... They for sure will not have chemicals and pesticides in there dirt.

Lets see some pics of the new motoros

It may take a couple of days, but will put some pics out soon. They are so cool and I sure want to make their life easier. Thanks for the input. I plan on going to wally world tomarrow and see what they have.

Congrats! I have fed mine with worms in the yard a couple of times. I buy my nightcrawlers and red wigglers from walmart. I got a 20 gallon tub and put a bag of peat moss in it to keep the worms. I use to buy about 3 containers of each per week and put them in the tub. I would also collect some worms from the driveway on a nice rainy day. I don't feed worms that much anymore because they are messy. Once you get them onto scallops and frozen shrimp it it much easier. We still need to get together some day.

Not sure how the soil is in US, but im too cheap to buy crawlers, so I just dig em up every couple weeks. Going out everytime it rains REALLY helps. Usually I go out a couple days in a row before winter kicks in to get enough for the whole winter.

Cool, I'm sure I have a lot to learn but at least I have a good bunch of people to help me along the way, so thanks for that.

It sounds like you have a good start on things! Can't wait to see pictures :)

We are so glad things are going well for you & the rays. We have caught night crawlers out of our yard before and never had a problem, but we don't fertilize (except the dog...lol). We mostly feed frozen smelt from GFS or frozen tilapi from Wal-mart to the big rays, occasionally we treat them to night crawlers from our LFS. And still throw feeders in once a week to make them work for their food. Can't wait to see some pics of the babies! Good luck and let us know when you are ready for some more. Should have some more pups from the other female around Christmas Eve. Keep us updated!!
