no, but the guide said he's had a fish spool a reel all the way out and TAKE the pole!!!! That would suck...

Good luck! Sounds like a ton of fun you should try getting in an intertube and fighting it. I saw a fishing program of jimmy johnson fighting one that way in the same river even. It was so funny it dragged him up and down the river.

Cool idea...but the sturgeon has raspy scutes along its back that can cut thru the tube.
BTW they did that on In Fisherman Critical Concepts. Great Show. What happened to it? They cut it!!
Anyway, they used 80 lb test (braid i think) baitcasting reels, and huge, dead Shad wrapped in a half-cylendar of plastic so the bait sinks.
Good luck. make sure its not green when u reel it in close or it might jump in the boat

not sure on the hook size other than it was about 2". and the shad was hooked threw the back about 7 times looping towards the head, then hooked threw the forehead. cut all fins so it doesn't spin in the current. and your good to go

I have only ever caught small one stocked in fisheries . that’s is out of this world a top job.
