Randomly, I picked up the tank obsession, and I am having a great time. I realize that I may be somewhat overstocked, but don't bash me for it right now. I'd just like the opinion of you modern-day experts. Right now, there is a King Midas, 2 Jack Dempsies, a Florida Gar, and a Black Spotted Eel in there. Sometimes the Midas and Dempsies don't get along, but it's not that often. I'm sure when the Dempsies grow a little bit, it will be a different story. Once again, don't be too harsh on me...this is m first tank.

Ok, since you already know you are overstocked, what are your future plans? JD grow slow, but I don't know about the others. I hope you develop MTS soon ;)

Well, I'm in college now until May 5th. When I get back home, I plan on changing to some type of sand substrate, new decor, and have no idea what I want to stock it with. I'll definitely keep the JD's, but probably relocate the Midas and Gar. Any suggestions? And what does MTS mean?

Your only prob I see is your fl gar he will get massive!!! 21"+sometimes . You could build a pond for him

Ohhhhhh I know. I LOVE that thing. If I wasn't in school right now, a pond would definitely be my MAIN priority.

Quick question for anyone who sees this...Would my Fl Gar be ok in a pond that houses koi? Or would he tear those apart? They're medium to large koi.

The kois would be alright as long they are as big or bigger than the gar. and remember to feed the gar at least once a day! Chances of ur gar tearing apart those kois would be as slim as winning the lottery

Hey thanks. That sounds good. Excited to get the Gar in my friend's pond for the summer!

Yeah what he said^ I have had my gar and koi like that fooooor a longtime. And actually both gar are on live foods. My gars were never pellet trained before I put them in my pond... I hope yours is! Its hard to pellet train a gar in a 12x12 pond

Nope, it's not pellet trained. He eats strictly goldfish and some bloodworm cubes. I'll get on pellet training him though! Thanks!

no problem you prob already know this but you should Quarantine your goldfish before you feed. and also try guppies ,mollies, and Cray fish to the meanu if you don't end up pellet training. And maybe put a pair of sunfish in the pond so the gar can eat the fry of the sunfish . Lots of members tend to feed pellets tho this is the only fish I feed live to tho no problems at all just rapid growth
