First Tank Build - 400 Gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the comments guys ;).

I think I am jealous! Nice work man. Hopefully I will be doing the same in ~7 years

Yah, it's actually a lot of fun building your own tank, easy too (so far) although I'm not saying that for sure until I know it doesn't leak. I think I've spent a total of about 6 hours on the tank/stand so far, most time consuming part is applying the LR. I wish I would have made the tank bigger though lol, but I wanted to be able to get in out of my door if I move. Not really sure what I'll be doing or where I'll be going, might go back to school in a few years before I get too old! I'm only 21 and I already feel old!

I was in the city trying to get a pair of Silvers to grow out in my 30 gallon and of course... SOLD OUT... so I guess I have to wait until I get back to a place that sells them.

FINALLY my glass is in!!! It gets delivered on Monday, so glass will go in Monday, test fill will be next Thursday and Friday. Going to fill about 100 gallons and leave it for a while and then another 100 and so on and so forth. Hoping by next Sunday it'll be in place, full of water with a filter on it! Just one question, how many tubes of silicone should I buy??

Nice! I hope it goes in well. Looking forward to seeing how it ends up!

When I talked to the manufacturer of Wetsuit (liquid rubber) here in the U.S. he recommended to give the coat of LR a rinse off before trying to put in glass - might help adhesion.

Hey thanks steve, I had read about problems with glass adhesion to the LR so I left the frame the glass will be sitting in liquid rubber free, the glass will be siliconed to the plywood directly with an 1/8th inch on either side which will be filled with silicone.
