First Time BGK Owner, Nothing Down, Zero Interest!

So I am giddy like a school girl!

The wife HATES knife fish, I think just the shape of clown knifes she's seen and their not pink or Nemo or whatever but when we went to go pick up my new 135 I got on CL, low and behold swimming around with about 50 small fish and a vampire pleco, there is a black ghost knife about 10"!!! I was traveling in San Diego the morning after moving the new tank to the house so she looked after all the new fish while I was gone. About two days in she starts talking about the fish with the puppy dog face that comes to the glass when she feeds them. She got a crush on the same fish she hated and is begging me to keep it! Am I the only one that's knife comes out with the lights on to the FRONT of the glass at feeding time? It reminds me of a puffer to be honest in personality. Anyone else agree?

Despite their ‘nocturnal’ reputation… mine comes out during the day quite often… and eats side by side with everyone else every chance he gets…

Mine is like a puppy, always out and when its time for food he comes up to the surface. I havent tried to handfeed him but I guess he wouldnt mind that.

For real you can teach them to eat from your hands?!?! I thought I would have to get an MBU for behavior like that. How do you teach them that that?


I am liking the fact that she is getting into the hobby. The knife and the L240 have pretty much sealed the deal for her and I could not be happier. She has officially decided on 50% of my stock list. (it was 250% but we talked about how this tank isn't as big as she thinks it looks )
