I’m going to do a small project and was curious about using either a bulkhead or uniseal. I’m going to drill the bottom of some 2.5g tanks and was wondering if a 1/2” Uniseal would work. I’ve heard that 2 gallons may not be enough water pressure to create a good seal. Also, as I pushed the 1/2” pvc through the seal, I noticed it would flex a bit. I’m worried that this might crack the tank. Would a bulkhead be safer?

On a tank that small, I would use a bulk head.
I would be afraid the tank would crack trying to use a uniseal

Be careful drilling the 2 gallon. When I drilled one for my mini rack I cracked the glass. I ended up siliconing a piece of plastic to the glass and it ended up not leaking. I used a 1/2” bulkhead.

Uniseals offer huge cost advantage at large sizes. At 1/2", I fail to see a point.

I have installed two 4" uniseals on our two fiberglass 4500 gal's. That saved me like $150. The uniseals of this size are hard to work with - need oil and muscle. They have been in operation for several years now without problem but I am using them for the overflow, so the water pressure is minimal to generate any leaks.
