First Time: Orange Heads Spawn

Did the weekly WC on the 125g today, couple hours later I noticed the tube on one of my females was dropped. She is only 3.5" so I was a little supprised. I found the male guarding the eggs by the inlet of the FX5 shortly after. I know, I know, these guys are easy to breed but this is the first time they spawned for me so I am excited.

I hope the eggs get eaten though TBH, after the Geophagus Abalios just spawned I don't have a fry tank for these too, don't know what to do. The pics are blurry but really high rez shot on a macro setting, click on them to zoom in (ALLOT)

The male is 4" TL, eggs on top of the rock.







The female is 3.5", you can still see her tube dropped.

Thanks Peter! Like I said hopefully the eggs get eaten this time around as bad as it sounds... I am still really excited they are reaching sexual maturity though.

Thanks Dave. I was thinking that too but even if I get free swimming fry (which I doubt being their first time), they picked the rock closest to the inlet to my FX5 so I doubt any fry will make it. Looks like I need to be ready and find another 29g fry tank for next time...
