ok so i am looking to get a piranha and i haven't had much experience with them, my dad had two about 15 years ago that died from a heater malfunction. i was thinking a rhom of some type but wanted to get a professionals opinion. what would be a good piranha to start with that has character and the "AWW!!" ability.

i'm not sure that fish have the capability to generate "character." I think that they don't have the brain power to have character. i think that any piranha has the ability to generate "AWW!!" they are awesome and most laymen are impressed with any pirahna because of their reputation. buy whatever you can afford. they can go for $5 for a baby red or several hundred for a blck or diamond.

i had the chance to get a yellow diamond rhom for free, but my tank is full and most of my fish i like, i have no more room in any other tanks for them.

So what's the point of your post if you have no room? lol. Anyways, I think if you're looking for character and "AHHH" factor you're going to be disappointed. Most owners or sellers will tell you they're not what you think they are. The "ahhh" factor comes from how people react when you say "i have a piranha" or when they see it and that's based off their ferocious reputation but you probably already know that since your dad was previous keeper.

Personally, i like the look of the black diamond but i'd rather have one of the shoaling species

well the reason for the post is because i will be getting a new tank for my fish and i will have an empty 75 gallon tank and wanted to put a piranha in it

what breed?

If you want a school of fish go for Caribes.

If you want just a solo fish... I highly recommend...Xingu Rhom, Blue or Black Diamond Rhom, or a Gibbus if you can find one.

ok what would be good in a 75 gal?
