You are 20 years old?

"my parents let me have 4 fish tanks in their living room!"

lmfao , hahahaha this thread is the funniest waste of good advice ive ever seen.

im sorry man but you need to grow up, these people are offering you very good advice and you just dont even let it register. You cant afford a pond . That aquaruim i know they wont take that ret tail catfish , i made sure (quick phone call) , so please give it a good home? i'll pay for the shipping.... no joke , where ever you want to send it.

seriously dude what everyone has said in this is true...I am a "new" RTC owner. I researched and planned before I bought one and he is still a handfull...I bought him 6 or 7 months ago and he is starting to outgrow my 120 already (2 inches to 19 in 6 months)...fast growers doesn't do them justice. I knew they grew fast and he still needs a new home before I thought he would....not too be mean but do u have the ability to throw $2000 dollars out for 500 gallon tank so he will have room until u get a pond built, because I had to do exactly that...I thought I would have time till next spring to get the materials for a pond to put him in, and here it is November and I just ordered a 500 gallon so he would live comfortably for the time being...seriously...think of the fish for a minute...would u like to live in a closet till u died?

Yeah, I wasn't trying to attack, please don't take it as that. Just wanted to point out these fish can get pricey, but they're also some of the coolest. Both my TSN and RTC, I would still consider small and they already act like my dogs when its time for their meal. If they could bark, I bet they would.

i wasnt directing that towards you. Sorry if you thought that. Any luck on a new niger cat?

No offense taken. No worries. I understand what you're saying. Everyone comes down on big cat noobies.

No luck on the Niger yet. The lfs has one, but they want $175 !!! I've been keeping an eye on it though, sooner or later they'll mark it down.

Thats part of the problem where I'm located. The lfs never want to take big cats back, yet the 2-3 they do have over 12" they all want ridiculous prices for. There's one local shop that wants $350 for a 15" rtc. People can't give them away on craigslist, yet they want $350! So the fish sits in a 30g tank, can't move, and hates life. All they'd have to do is mark it down to $50 and the thing would sell in a second. If they did that, they wouldn't be able to sell the babies for $30. Plus when someone buys a baby they think they're going to be able to sell the thing for $300+ when it no longer fits in their 55g tank and make a profit. Instead, they find out no one wants it, and most hobbiest that would take it dont' want it because its stunted or has been treated poorly for the past year.
