Hello Ray folks... I am an owner of a 4" Retic. I had ordered for an Motoro and ended up with this lil guy. As I have researched, they are not the best for beginners, oh well now that I have him I will have to look after this lil fella and make sure he is fit to join my 360G.

Drip acclimatised and placed him in a 10G quarantine for the time being. Will shift him to 30G later on. Any tips and advise most welcome :)
 
A 10 gallon tank is kind of small even for a small ray. Move the ray to a larger tank as soon as possible. Feed often, but keep the water clean.

Cool.... Thought the 10 would be a good idea to just quarantine.
On a side note... Would growing out the ray with Pbass juvies be a bad idea?

amazing ray Najab....yeah i think its better you change it to bigger tank and actually Najab rays are scaleless fishes as it is very small its better you keep it with discus or angels or some soft fish which are not aggressive .....i'm also planning to get some ray after this summer........so good luck with ur new ray bro ...cheers :)
 
I have had trouble with a 40 gallon tank with tiny rays. when they start eating ammonia will be out of control in ten gallon. The only way I keep my 40 under control is to hook it to my main filter prior to and then cycle it's own filters when it's on it's own with other fish. After all that twice a week 50% water changes and my nitrates start creeping up before the end of a two week quarantine. So I would suggest something much larger and if it's wc then treat with prazipro. My only other suggestion is blackworms for a little while it's worked like magic with my most picky rays

Thank u much for the heads up... My filters are cycled already... For the quarantine I stick to 20% WC every two days. And it's not a wc. I have earthworms with me... Good idea to feed them?

Anything it eats at first repeat until fat with nice thickness on tail and keep trying to diversify. I believe any ray is easy once eating if water is kept clean
