The pic I posted was suppose to be a view from the inside of the tank. The Silicone is more of a gasket and the water pressure also keep the glass in place like it would the liner. As far as the Silicone sticking to the pond liner I'm not sure how well it will bond.

Thanks Gator

If your using rubber (EPDM) liner, you can use their adhesive/sealers. If a different material (pool liner (vinyl?))is used you'll have to test it.

Contact a laminate manufacturer to get their final say, but I've had laminate fail because of water intrusion on several occasions using laminates in a 24/7 submersed environment. Seems the laminate was slightly porous. This was a few years ago tho.

You can purchase a pre-formed EDPM liner to fit inside the box too.

Thank for the input. All most pond liners EDPM because the Sales Associate at the local HD doesn't know for sure?

 and yes, but always double check (should say on one side of the liner the others are PVC and vinyl).

I have decided to try a smaller tank first for now, I am building a 3w X 2d X 1.5' High right now. Bought 3/4 inch OSB plywood with 2 x 4 frame support on the sides, will use 6mm acrylic for the window. I am using the pond liner with contact cement glued to the plywood. Silicone sealant in the corners, what i don't understand is do the corners need to be done in fibreglass for support or will the 2 x 4 work fine. I am leaning towards the 2 x 4 any input please
