Hi all! I need intervention. I have a storeroom full of fish supplies. Every time I walk into that room, my husband likes to tell me that I should open a fish store. Anyway, I have been on vacation and have spent most of that time breaking down my 90 gallon Oceanic Show Tank and moving the (6) adult discus and accompanying corys, clown loach, and black neon tetras to the brand spanking new 75 AGA. I then cleaned this 90 gallon tank so I could put my (15) juvenile discus into it. I also added (6) lemon tetras, (5) corydoras sterbai, and (1) bristlenose pleco that were from the 65 gallon tank into the 90. I also had (25) neon tetras in the 65 AGA, but they couldn't take the temps that the discus need, so what do I do? The juvenile discus were in a 29 gallon tank. Now that tank is empty of fish, so I throw the neons into it (with the heater set lower, of course). I now have a clean, disinfected, EMPTY 65 gallon AGA tank. I would like to bring down the number of tanks running in the house and yet at the same time I want to get a 40 breeder for the neons :WHOA:. Is there like a 12-step program for fish addiction? These are the tanks I have running ATM:

90 gallon Oceanic discus tank
75 gallon AGA discus tank
29 gallon saltwater tank
29 gallon neon tetra tank
20 gallon clownfish (marine) tank
15 gallon goldfish tank (they are wintering over from the half barrel outside)
10 gallon hospital tank with 1 patient almost ready to go back to the DT

As for all the empty tanks I have:
1 65 gallon AGA tank with stand, hood, and lights
1 20H tank with stand, hood and lights
1 20L tank with hood
2 10 gallon tanks (1 with a glass versatop)
2 5 gallons tank (1 with hood and lightstrip, 1 with just the hood)
1 2.5 gallon tank with glass cover,
and all the equipment that I would need if I wanted to get all of these tanks up and running! (not that I would :D ) Is there any doubt still that I need intervention?

Someone please tell me when the next meeting is for FishAnon?

What you need to do is break up with that husband of yours and get yourself some camshaft. :naughty:

I hope I can find me a woman that has your problems some day.

I'll take some.....lol

I'll take them all off your hands for free to help your addiction. :D

You could be my knight in shining armor. LOL!

I am so with you. I went from 2 to 11 tanks and for some reason I still don't have enough room.
I have a finished basement. I told my husband we could line up the walls with fish tanks, but he somehow does not seem to think this is a fabulous idea like I do.

It would be great to have an enabler around, wouldn't it? You'd have to figure out how to have money left over to pay the bills though! It will all go towards the addiction!

I am thinking Craigslist? It's so hard to let go, :( :grinno:....

Nice to know there are others out there with the same problem.....

my name is jorge and i have a fish problem.

ahh, i got laid off before the new year and NOW the stores around me are on fire. tons of new plecos and id like about four of them really badly. (im a pleco fan) then they get some new loaches ive never seen before, gotta have em. then festivums ive been looking for.

with no job, i cant feed my hobby right now.

Hello Jorge! The hobby helps keep you sane, though. (In a way, I guess.) Nothing more relaxing than sitting in front of a clean tank with one of your cats on your lap and just watching your fish watch you.

change cats to dogs and you are spot on!

So is there anyone out there who has as many if not more tanks than I do? Let's hear about your own addiction! What does your significant other have to say about it? What are yo doing to try to rope them into it (or just to make them stop whining about how much money you spend on it/the electric bill, water bill, no room left in the house, etc.) Come on you all! Acknowledgment of the problem is the first step! ;)
