Fish acting weird

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Only 5x filtration, most people on here go for 8-10x filtration per hour. That may be your issue, not cycled and not enough filtration

Well it was just a guess to be honest. It could be around 8-10 x a hour I havent done the exact math. I know it.can effect them even in small amounts thats y I added the detoxicifier as a precationary method.

i duno, you said you set up your tank 2 weeks ago. that usually isnt enough time for your filter to "cycle" as in "build up a colony of nitrification bacteria that converts ammonia and nitrite to the more harmless nitrates" i didnt mean cycle as in turnover (rate of water moving through your aquarium) anyways, good luck.

I understand . Sorry if I confused you. The tank has been set up for 2 weeks but the actual water is from my well established 40 breed that was up for 2 years. I used 30 gallons of that water to fill the new tank.

Yep, THE BACTERIA IS NOT IN THE WATER, IT IS ON SURFACES. Go get a bottle of safestart, and maybe add some filter media from another tank to this one or gravel from an established tank. I have cycled many tanks in one week using established media, gravel and some safestart

Water has little to no beneficial bacteria in it. The decor and the filter pads is where almost a 100% of the bacteria live, what are your other readings? Nitrites and nitrates? Also what sort of test kit are you using as in strips or liquids?

Over the 2 weeks that you were letting the bacteria establish did you put any food into the tank to feed the bacteria? They need to be feed or they'll die off in a few days.
