Hey y'all,

I am programming/creating a fish stocking calculator with aggression and length as the two variables, as of right now. I need valuable input for information on species aggression and length, and I thought "hey this is a great place to find information."

As such, can you all put the aggression level and length (inches) of the fish you've kept and are keeping.

The aggression level works likes this:
It goes from 1-10 (1 being peaceful, 10 being aggressive) and here's some examples as reference
1: neon tetra
2: black skirt tetra
3: tiger barb
4: blue gourami
5: firemouth
6: convict
7: jewel cichlid
8: Jack dempsey
9: salvini
10: red devil

I like it, also a cool way to see how some of our fish act differently in different settings. I don’t remember everything I’ve kept, but these are the fish I actively remember my experiences with:
N/A flagtail goby (hasn’t been kept with anyone yet, likely to be a 1-3)
1 Red firefish, neon tetra, neon goby, skirt tetra, silver dollar, guppy, platy, molly, Raphael catfish (doesn’t do anything), oto cat, bn (or any) pleco, Cory cat, bala shark, zebra danio, goldfish
2 Severum cichlid (one of the most placid fish I’ve owned), dwarf gouramis, peacock eel
3 Serpae tetra, opaline/blue/gold gourami
4 betta, royal gramma (all show, no significant attacks), Amazon puffer, krib cichlid (non breeding)
5 rosy red minnow, electric blue acara, giant danio, tiger barb, Buenos Aires tetra
6 rainbow shark, occelaris clownfish male, rainbow cichlid, skunk loach, sun loach, Aussie rainbow fish, peacock cichlids
7 occelaris clownfish female, krib cichlid (breeding pair), dwarf puffer (mine were pretty tame), lower tier mbunas (mean but not able to exercise full aggression)
8 Convict cichlid, Jack Dempsey cichlid, blood parrot cichlid, red belly pacu (big appetite, but didn’t go looking for fights), green terror
9 Red belly piranha (like the pacu, except it always wanted to fight), subdominant mbunas (mean but not psychotic)
10 Banded leporinus (every one I’ve had has been pure evil), dominant mbunas (see quote for leporinus)

Flowerhorn would be closer to red devil and I would put him at 7-8. As I found kennyi to be much more aggressive. Flowerhorn is at 8-9 inches and kennyi were 3-4".

I agree with almost everything in your list, except for Blood Parrots. My BP just never "fit" in my cichlid tank hierarchy, he would always do his own thing so I would never know what aggression level he is.

really? The African peacocks I keep I'd rate as a 4-5
Species dependent I’d say. Mine were the more placid types.
I forgot to mention sizes. My largest were the pacus and Leporinus at 8-10 inches. My con and jd are in the 3-5 inch range. My mbunas were 3-6. Sev 6. Clowns 1 inch, Amazon puffs 1-2 inch. Balas 3-7. Everything else near full grown.

Mine is the king cichlid. He himself is harmless, but he knows how to run a tank. His secret is to be paired with my convict as his enforcer lol. He butts heads with the leporinus, which as far as I’m concerned means he’s got balls.
