trying to move a 10-12 inch oscar and pleco of about the same size. i've only moved betas and cories before.
I was going to adapt my previous method (fish in bag in cooler full of newspaper), but i don't know what kind of bags to use for such large fish, i assume trash bags are not an option, and that it would need to be food safe plastic. I don't know if freezer bags come in big enough sizes. We tried going to the LFS but they didn't have any bags bigger than what wal-mart uses for fish. any help/advice is greatly appreciated. thank you

Rubbermaid w/ a air pump/heater in it for longer trips.

agreed. some sort of water tight container. a picnic cool box works wonders for long trips but a small one would do for short trips. the heater would be unnecessary in a cool box as its insulated so the heat would stay trapped for a few hours. over that then heat packs in sealed bags should give a good heat boost.

That's what I do.

Me too, we just logged a 650 mile trip one way with 3 rubbermaids fitted with quarter inch airline fittings attached to airstones and potscrubbers fed by battery powered pumps.

:iagree: That's what I use. I have a power inverter to power the heater and pump. If you have one that's the way to go and it's convenient. If you don't you can buy one cheap or you may have to find another solution.

i've used a bucket or cooler instead of rubbermaids, but only for trips less that 30 miles or so

styrofoam cooler.

Yup I used a styrofoam box too.. Nth else juz water it was like I was transporting fresh fish at a market lol..
