My long nose gar bite me today when cleaning my tank is this common?

When I used to have a gar when I would clean my tank it would swim over like he wanted to bite me but I never left my hand in there that long.

ummm looks like food, smells like food, must be food CHOMP!! Fish will be fish. Its pretty normal especially if you had your hand in food recently.

definitely. my friend had one once that drew blood while he was cleaning

i have one he doesnt bite me or even comes close to bite me usually just goes to the bottom and sits there while i clean lol.
