Not sure about polypterus sp. dabola being a lap variant. It could be its own species one day. None of my sp. Dabola looked like a lap.
I was under this assumption as well, that the sp was given to them because they were either a natural occurring hybrid between endli and lap or a new species all together. Other wise it'd be polypterus lapradei sp dabola.

I hope so. They need to be their own species, but sp. Dabola have different types in terms of the way they look, and there's also Faranah Dabola.

Damn your only 17 yrs old, and you know alot about polys:)
Been into fish since I was maybe 9. Been researching different species ever since. I like to think I have a well rounded knowledge. Now I'm mostly into characins, polys, and cats

2 tikinso endli, 2 ansorgii and 1 teugelsi courtesy by no other than toyin. They all washed up and some mouths are banged up from transportation. They all should color and heal up soon.

I always thought it was a natura lap/endli hybrid or something
