Fish can recognize human faces

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I actually tested this. If I put a mask on out of the room and walk in, the warmouth acts like I'm some other human. If I stand in front of the tank and put a mask on, it keeps acting like it recognizes me, so apparently warmouths (unlike babies) understand that the person is still there even if the face is suddenly hidden.
LOL!.....what sort of mask do you wear?

Last Halloween I wanted to be the scariest thing possible, so I wore a Donald Trump mask along with a tuxedo. I'll try the same thing with my fish since I still have the mask.

My dicrozoster comes up to the top and sits there waiting for me to feed him but when my kids are around he tends to just swim around and ignore them

Mine obviously can recognize the fish food can in my hand, they go nuts! :D I'm sure I'm not the only one.
I just now noticed that my Firemouths do the same thing. I'll walk up to the tank, and once they see me, they'll wait at the front. Once I pull out the Hikari gold... They both start swimming in 6" circless, they "wiggle" their tails, and bite at the glass.

My dempsey adored my wife he would swim in circles and wiggle so hard I was suprised he didnt hurt himself when she was around. I got the wiggles but no circles.

Cool experiment study. Makes me wanna get a archerfish now. Thanks for sharing.
