My gar cant chase its prey, should i help him out or something?

They are ambush hunters. So not uncommon for them not to chase prey down. But please me more specific. Feeder fish? What size/species of gar and what sized tank? What size feeders? Have you tried cut fish? Or and prepared food?

its around 4 to 5 inch in a tank around 35 gallon eith 2 red tails, the rtc does care bout him much but yea, he doesnt care about them too

Just a heads up, the tank won't last more than a few months with those fish..

i got him yesterday and he only ate 1 of the fish, and that was while it was insjde the bag

Probably stress from the new environment then. Give it a few days to settle

He'll be fine for a while. I'd worry about finding a larger tank..
