Fish companions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes as was said the iridescent shark which is really a catfish can get 39 inches, they are very skittish and their face will ball marked up from running into the tank glass, fish that should be left in the wild imo. Silver dollars are great fish just stay away from the hooked ones the get large the other you could do half a dozen remember to give them a lot of vegetable or spirulina tablets or flakes

Those white cichlids look like tilapia to me. I think I saw you post them in another thread?
If so, depending on the species, they are likely to get over a foot long. How many gallons is your 5' tank? Most 5' tanks are 120 gallons or less. I would call a 120 with a few 12" tilapia, bunch of convicts, iridescent sharks, and walking cats (which also get large) overstocked already. I would be looking for ways to sell fish, not buy more, personally.

They grow fast and should have a top quality varied diet. I adore mine, they get excited as soon as I walk in and brush up against my hand if I have to move anything in their tank etc.
Please make sure you’re ready for the commitment and have the space, it definitely looks like you already have too many massive (once mature) fish in your tank. I have a few pics showing their fast growth. I bought my tiger Oscar first then added the Lutino about 1-2 months later. Both were around 2 inches when they came home. Now they are already 8inches and 6inches. The latest pic was taken 21 Jan this year.

Might do away with the Tilapia and catfishes.
Return to my previously kept fish before I went away for work.. Oscars, Severums and Silver dollars.
