Fish compatiblity and suggestions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'de do angels or discus.. and increase the number to 3. Odd numbers disperse aggression. Discus need to be in groups or the least dominant fish often gets killed by the more dominant one. the general exception is if they pair up, and you can still see some aggression issues. If the Angels pair up they may decided to start killing tank-mates as well defineing a territory. but may be fine. I've seen both cases. Also avoid small species of tetras and other fish like neon tetras, guppies, ect.. Both the angels and discus can and will prey on them.

personally I'de go with a single Angel and build a nice community of schooling fish around it.

just thought could do with somthing that eats algae of my glass, so i wont need to scrape it off as often. know there is otos, but will they be compatiblewith my knife fish? or is their somthing that does the job better. willing to drop some corys for a suitable larger contestant.

Aggression isn't necessarily based on odd or even numbers. It is more of an individual basis. Two discus or angels may be fine together. If anything three is worse because even if it is not a true pair most likely two will pair off and harass the third.

This is also possible but in the equivalent to a 75 gallon tank it's unlikely. In a smaller tank I would agree it's almost guranteed. but you def need to take individual personalities into consideration, a cichlid.. is a cichlids.. is a cichlid..

The other Option if you really like angels is to simple have a good size group of them. But then you won't be able to keep much else in the tank. and you still maye run the issue of aggression issues if you have a particularly aggressive fish, or submissive one.

imo the tank is too small to comfortable mix angels and discus.
