Fish cycle with daily water changes.

What is with the tank size trolling on MFK? The dude asks about cycling and tank and gets ragged on for tank size.

Because he's talking about putting a pacu in a 180 and then adding a RTC...

Tank size seems like a relevant issue to me.

Missed the word "growout". My apologies to the OP...

use the media from your current tank and put it in the Fx5, since you are putting the fish that are already using that media in to the new tank id say ur good to go. use seachems stability for a week and dont add anything new for maybe 2 weeks but you can typically almost skip a cycle as long as the bioload is the same as it was before.

What I did was siphon the water from my already cycled tank into my new tank and let it run for 5 days using seachem stability and it was ready after those 5 days but I only added 5 fish in.

The water from a cycled tank isn't nearly as important as the filter media. If the media from the old tank is moved to the new one, the OP should be fine

The OP wants to build an outside pond to house his monsterfish(at least the last time he posted); that is highly unlikely to succeed where he is(New England I think). I also advise you to start with les - with fish that can be happy in 180 and then see if the pond idea takes off...if it does, it is not too late then to grow out other monster fish in the 180.

With that amount of large fish on a small tank, 20% daily wc is not nearly enough to prevent an ammonia spike. You would be looking at about 50% wc daily which is IMO impractical. The cycle would also take a long time as you are removing ammonia daily. Remember, fish hates ammonia but bacteria LOVES them. If you have everything set up already, I suggest dosing stability everyday.
