Fish dead

I checked No2, No3, PH, KH and GH. Can't remember the PH level but think it was around 8.

As for putting the fish in the tank, I add the bags to the tank and leave for 20 minutes or so, then mix some of the water in with mine and leave for another 20 minutes or so, then I let them go into the tank. I am not that sure on all the care I need to take with water as I have only been keeping fish for a year and never really had to many troubles before. I do change around 20% of the water every 2-4 weeks.

I do a water change and vacuum weekly. On my fry tanks I do it twice a week. How thorough are your cleanings? This could be the culprit depending on your bio load. What size tank and what fish? A lot of people on here do weekly water changes and some with huge monster tanks do daily water changes (albeit automatic).

First of all you really should be quartentining fish before adding to your community tank. Why would you want to expose your entire tank to disease.

Best if you test the pH from the LFS water and the pH of your tank. the greater the difference the longer acclimation time is needed. yYou stated your pH was around 8, which is very high is the water the fish were in had a pH of say 6.8 then most likely the fish got pH shock. Also fish do not die instantly from shock, it can take a few days to take it's toll.

My tank is 165 litre with a wet and dry filter system, the power head pumps 1000 litre per hour, I was under the impression that this is a pretty good filter system for a tank this size.

I don't have a second tank yet to keep fish in before adding them to my community and to be honest up until now I never knew that this was a good idea.

I still think that the fish that I got were not in the best of condition, as I said one of them died before making into my tank and the other looked in a very bad state before I got it into there.

How would I go about acclimatizing fish before they are added to the community?

10 mixed Tetras (5 neon, 5 Cardinal)
5 Clown Loaches
1 Bulldog Pleco
2 Keyholes
1 Firemouth
1 Kribensis

I am very thorough with my cleaning but my fiancee can miss bits that I would do.

I missed the part where you said one died before even putting him in. That does kind of sound like they're in bad condition and if that's the case I just wouldn't buy fish there anymore.

Either way it's still good practice to check the pH in the bag and compare it to your tank, because on top of the possibly bad condition of the fish already pH shock can't help. If the pH is drastically different you may have to use the drip method, where you put the fish in a bucket and slowly drip water out of your main tank into that bucket with airline tubing for a couple of hours until the water in the bucket and the tank are a fairly good match.
