Provide us more info to help you figure it out...

How long has your tank been set up?

Water Parameters (pH, Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite)?

Tankmates?

You'll need a test kit to figure the water parameters out.

Its a 10g(temporary tank for him) that has been set up with for about a month. I filled it up with water from my other tank. No tankmates. All I know about the filter is that it is some sort of small aquatech bioclear filter.

I would definitely say It had something to do with ammonia cos of the Pink colour he had when you found him dead.

I would think that it would be ammonia also. It's just funny that it just died all of a sudden. Usually, if it were ammonia poisoning, parts of the fish would start turning red and then the fish would die. Did your fish have any red on him before he died?

I prefer the api liquid master test kit. Stay away from the paper strips that you dip in the water. I have heard only bad things about them. Walmart.com sells the master test kit for pretty cheap.
