Na, the cats knocked it off the table and it snapped into two bits, a really heavy key board and a screen..

Holy wow am I behind the times, I didn't know technology was far enough advanced (and accessible to average Joes) to be able to do stuff like that yet... I think I need to leave my rock for a little while. Haha

Nothing important is in the screen. It's just the screen. That's it. You can plug a screen-less laptop into a monitor and access everything that way. Not sure what type of cable you would use, I've only seen my dad do it, but I know it's possible. For free.

I had a laptop stop working and brought it to a shop within 10min they had been able to transfer memory to a memory stick and I could upload to new computer. I think they charged me $30.

Why not do it yourself? I found a video about how to do it, and it's really not hard.

I'm computer illiterate. If its not in the start menu, I don't touch it.. Even half of the crud in the start menu is confusing... I think I'll just fork out for a professional to do it, that way if it messes up I have someone to blame that isn't myself.
