I'm a little rusty to think today but I just reread this bit. I discussed this with a few AC members in the chatroom as I am a bit disoriented to point out what I'm still missing from my previous posts.FavCatfish;2763375; said:I have them out, 100% water change, rinse the sand and used the water from my catfdish tank to hold them. Why did you rinse the sand? Did you also rinse your filter? How did you rinse both? You don't have to rinse the sand. This is very drastic.
Water from catfish tank will do nothing. It does not harbor beneficial bacteria either as bacteria does not colonize the water column but the filter and substrate. It's possible your fish are suffering from osmotic shock. The TDS (total dissolved solids) may vary between different water sources. Fish don't adapt easily to the large changes.
Get an API liquid test kit and test your water parameters between the cichlid tank and catfish tank. TDS meter is needed to determine your TDS.
