Hi you all !!!

Ok, i have the chance to set up an fish export operation in Venezuela. I can get all the permits and hole stuff but the most important thing is: do you guys think that this is a good idea?. Of course i dont want to sell a lot of small fishes like neons and things like that, i want to set up a real and serious only big/rare fish dealing (stingrays, pike cichlids, catfish, loricarids, big cichlids). I´m waiting for your opinion....doesnt matter if you are hobbist or vendor, need both !!

Thanx in advance....this is very important to me.

if you have the market to sell the fish and can move them then do it..... if your gonna be stuck with the fish and cant really sell them or have the ability to ship then i wouldnt do it....

AGREED

Holding facility? Local Freight? Air freight? Do you have this all lined up? Who are you going to sell to? Without enough customers you have no business! Things to think about!
If you have the funds, dream, and desire go make it happen!!

What is your competition in Venezuela?

It would be nice to have an MFK'er be able to supply TRUE Yepezi out of the Maracaibo, as well as Dumerelli and many of those other interesting varieties of rays.. (Magdelanae, Marinae, Plesiotrygons, etc.. )

There are no exporters in Venezuela, not even 1. The animals are caught and delivered to Colombia and is there where exporters (Columbian) sell Venezuelan fishes to the world. Im still making numbers. Facilities can easily (and cheap) be builded, and i have where to place it.
I think it could be a good bussines.....still not sure, but im thinking seriously about doing this.

I have lived and worked in VE. I dont think you will have to many expences with stocks, but small fish like neons etc sell easier than large ones. You might think about specializing in large unique fish but also deal with the smaller ones at reduced price. This way stores will bring in your product to make higher profits while at the same time you get your name out and can get more special fish in more locations.
Good luck in your venture. Let me know if you need a capture camp, my father still lives there on Guri.
