Fish Farm & Jeff Rapps Selections

Hey guys I know some of you have ordered from Fish Farm and Jeff Rapps I was just wondering if anyone could show me pictures of their trimacs, Rd's, Vieja species that you have gotten through them or some other wet pets. I will be getting a 75gal hopefully and well I dont want to spend 50.00 on fish from rapps when I will be keeping a single wet pet up here in college and I know that Fish Farm has some pretty good stocks and he doesnt have a minimum order amount that I can think of. But I know that Trimac from Rapps are supposed to be amazing so I wanted to know if anyone could give me any idea of Fish Farms?

I've received trimacs from Rapps on 2 different occasions through a LFS. Both were decidedly very different geographical variants. One was mostly olive green with blood red eyes and body spots but barely any red on the throat. The second were incredibly red even at a very young age. And it wasn't just a difference between a few specimens. It was this way accross the board in both shipments.

Don't get me wrong, both batches ended up being gorgeous fish but very different coloration and color intensity.

Exactly! And they're both reputable too.

I got these Paratheraps (Vieja breidohri) from Fishfarm a few months back

and these Chuco intermedia a little over a year ago.

Isn't Ken in Uruguay...like right now?



I bought a carpintis and a menezesi pike from fishfarm a few weeks ago. A carpintis would be a great 'wet pet' for that tank.

Ken does collect his own fish...he's in Uruguay right now collecting.

Why are you always dogging Jeff Rapps? People talk up Rapps because they had a good experience with him.

there have always been good and bad experiences with any purchase, regardless of who you buy from. hopefully most are good
having said that, it depends on what your preferences are.

people choose rapps because he's got a solid reputation, brings in rare things and while his prices may not be the most competitive on the market i guess what you pay for is peace of mind and being able to have some rare stuff.

i've never gone through ken davis, but i've seen his posts, and i've seen what he brings in. he brings in good stuff from places and he DOES collect his own fish.

there are others out there that i won't mention as this thread is not about them. at the end of the day you need to decide what works for you and you pick your favorites.

when i choose a vendor, i basically work from a few angles of price vs what you get in terms of fish (size, colors, wild caught etc.), what it is you are looking for (for example i would never order from anyone if i wanted say a red tiger motaguense or a dovii, just because i am fortunate enough to have tons of those kinds of fish around me, and i would only buy from a vendor if it's a fish i know for a fact i can't find locally) and reputation of the buyer.
