contradicting yourself sir...........

I meant that Ken doesn't collect all of his fish, and that Jeff doesn't collect any that I know of but thanks for pointing it out. It was really a contribution to the OP's thread.

I've bought from both Ken and Jeff... I've had great experiences purchasing from both... I've also spoken with people who have had problems with each, and both vendors corrected the mistake. There are reasons why these two guys are two of the biggest names in (US) Cichlid Distribution.

I could point out imperfections of either of them... but I think a perfect business is even more rare than a perfect person... which does not exist...

Camph... you did say Ken doesn't collect "any" of his fish... and it just makes it real funny that Ken is on a collecting trip as we speak (type). It's an innocent mistake, but it shows us that we should not be so assumptuous.

both are great choices i have ordered from jeff and he has some spectacular fish the only time i lost one of his fish was when ups delayed the delivery (it came three days late) i have seen fish from ken and they look great

I was just trying to see if anyone had any pictures of some of his stock so I would be able to compare but it seems he has a great reputation so I am not as afraid of what I am getting than some no namers (not to say what they have isnt good). I am just looking to get the best 'wet pet' that I can from the more reputable people I would just like to not have to spend an exorbent amount if I dont have to. Locally the fish here just dont compare to what I can get through an online dealer.

FSM- I've had texas in the past and I have always liked them but I am looking for something that gets to a really nice size something that will max out at more than the 10 in mark

Duanes- Those are beautiful Vieja you have I thought about a Argentea or a Black belt.

Here is a male from Ken Davis that's over a year old now. Note however, that Ken usually ships smaller fish -- so you will need to shoot him an email, asking if he has something in larger size.

From my personal experience, I would say Ken's stock is one of the best.

TheOscarGuy- Thats a great looking trimac thats pretty much what I am looking to get at this moment but still unsure

All my fish, and some that aren't in my signature, come from either Jeff Rapps or Ken Davis. I have met both of them, but I know Ken better because I see him more often. The trimac in my avatar is from Ken. I'd say you have an equal chance of getting a real nice, quality fish from either one. Ken is cheaper, but Rapps has cheaper shipping now than what he used to have in case you don't know about that.

I think the thing you need to consider most is the species you are interested in.

Here's my Trimac from Rapps. I've had him since 1 1/2" and he's around 7" now.

You can see the progression of his growth and a short video in my thread here: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=192347

I've bought from Rapps and Ken. Great guys to deal with and both have excellent stock. You can't go wrong with either. Regarding Trimacs, I've owned them from both and the one thing I noticed on Ken's Trimacs is the spots are not where you'd normally see them. Ken's are also F1 FYI.
