My aunt is Vietnamese...she tells me the same thing.
Apparently when she was a child, she had a pond full of Pangasius catfish in her school...the school toilets were located over the pond...you get the idea....
This is why many people won't eat catfish! They will eat almost anything on the bottom like garbage and crap!!! This is gross, but you never know what the food you eat has been eating!
