fish for 125 or 150

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if you get a 150, id go with a discus show tank, you could put 10-12 discus and huge shoals of cories(like 18-24?) and a massive shoal of cardinal and neon tetras(id put in 50 of each:jaw-dropp) would look awesome. Put sand, plants and driftwood and youd have an amazing looking tank.

I might do a discus show but this would be my stocking list

2-3x discus pairs (mated)
1x pair of my own
25x cardinal tetras
15x cories
4x Bristle nose plecs (2 mated pair)
4x german blue rams (2 mated pair)

and have loads of plants and some massive pieces of driftwood.
my 55 will be in the stand and setup with a Fluval 405 and will be a breeding/growout tank for the pairs and fry.

I most likely would go this way but I think a shoal of RBP would be awsome too.

Thanks,
-Kevin

Does anyone know how many RBP I could keep in a 125?

good rule of thumb is 20gallons aquarium space per adult RBP. So for mature adult RBPs 7-8" you could do 6 per rule of thumb. However I would start with 10 juviniles. They will grow pretty quick and be over 6" within a year.

I might start with a silver aro and RTC and sell them when they hit 20" and then go with something else like discus or RBP.....

Thanks,
-Kevin

you could keep 4 adult RBPs in there for life IMHO since they do get to a fairly large size (12").

Here are some pics, tank is a 65 gallon the RBPs are 6.5-7.5". The convicts are longer in the tank.

dont bother, you will have to sell em in bout 6 months and you wont want to, trust me. why would you do this anyways? if its for money, you will spend 2x more on the fish and food than you could sell em for.

Well I don't think I am going to do a 125 at all for a bit....for the simple fact that when I do get it I will only have about 6 months to a year to do anythign with it untill I have to leave for collage so I am just going to say screw it and do my 55 as a planted discus tank.....or I will get some RBP if they will fit....IDK but thanks a BUNCH guys!!!! you are a lot of help for what I might be doing once I get settled in collage and know that I will be able to back to my house on weekends.
