So I've got this 29 gallon tank laying around and I'm thinking about setting it up at work.

My other tanks are mbuna and platy's so I constantly have fry that I am looking to get rid of...

Is there any fish that can live it's whole life in a 29 gallon tank that takes live food? (Not as a staple but as treats?)

Most of the small Central American cichlids in the Archocentrus or Cryptoheros family would be fine. A single male convict would be an example. They have tons of personality.

Are you looking for a solitary species?

I'm thinking solitary due to the tank size. Everything I think of really needs a bigger tank or needs groups.

I'm interested in piranha but I don't know how they would do in a 29. Seems they would need a bigger tank. I'd also like another oscar but know that isn't possible.

A larger tank really isn't an option for the location...

Piranha and oscar would definitely be too big. What qualities are you looking for? An outgoing personality? Colorful appearance? Maybe we can help. :)

How bout a native sunfish/pygmi sunfish species?

No heater needed.
+1
